The D.R. Horton Lakeside floor plan is a 5-bedroom, single-story home of 2,016 square feet with a walk-in pantry and a covered rear porch, and as of September 2026 it is offered at five Horry County communities. Five bedrooms with no stairs anywhere is a combination almost nothing else on the Grand Strand offers at this price, and it starts in the $289,000s at Evington Place in Longs.
There is one thing to pin down before you buy it: D.R. Horton's own pages disagree about how many bathrooms it has. This guide covers the layout, every community that builds it, and that discrepancy. Figures verified on drhorton.com in September 2026. It is part of our floor-plan series, indexed on the D.R. Horton floor plans in Horry County SC hub. What Is the D.R. Horton Lakeside Floor Plan?
D.R. Horton publishes the Lakeside at 2,016 square feet, five bedrooms, one storey, with a two-car garage. The builder's description opens: "The Lakeside offers 5 bedrooms and 3 full baths in a functional single-story layout."
Five bedrooms on one level is the entire proposition, and D.R. Horton builds almost nothing else like it here. The other five-bedroom plans in its Horry County range — the Wren, the Elle, the Tillman, the Robie, the Hayden, the Woodstock — are all two-storey. The Lakeside is the only single-storey five-bedroom the builder publishes in this county.
Two Bathrooms or Three? Ask Before You Sign
D.R. Horton's description says three full baths. Its specification bar says two at Maple Grove and at Elmhurst Place, and three at Hemingway Landing. The same plan, on the same builder's site, published two different ways — and at two communities the page contradicts itself.
This is not a rounding difference like the Belfort's square footage. A full bathroom is a room. Two bathrooms across five bedrooms is a materially different house from three, and at 2,016 square feet the space for a third has to come from somewhere.
Ask the question directly and get the answer on the specification sheet: how many full bathrooms are in the base Lakeside at this community, and is a third available as an option? Do not accept the description or the spec bar as the answer — they disagree with each other on the same page. If a third bathroom is what makes the plan work for your household, this is the single most important thing to confirm.
For what it is worth, the descriptive copy is the same at all three communities and it says three. That suggests the plan is a three-bath and the spec bars at Maple Grove and Elmhurst Place are out of date. But "suggests" is not what you want to rely on when you are signing a contract.

Lakeside Floor Plan Layout and the Covered Porch
The main living space is open: D.R. Horton publishes that "the open-concept kitchen, dining, and living areas create a seamless space for everyday living and entertaining," and that the kitchen is "complete with a walk-in pantry and covered rear porch."
The covered rear porch is the feature to notice. Only a handful of D.R. Horton plans in this county publish covered outdoor space as part of the plan — the Eaton, the Forrester and the Lakeside. On the Grand Strand, a roofed outdoor room is the difference between using your back yard for most of the year and using it for about six weeks. No dimensions are published, so ask how large it actually is.
The primary suite is described simply: "The private primary suite features a walk-in closet and en-suite bath." D.R. Horton frames the four secondary bedrooms as flexible — guests, a home office or hobbies — which is the honest way to describe a five-bedroom plan at this size. Most households will use two or three as bedrooms and the rest as rooms.
Unusually, the Lakeside's plan page does not carry D.R. Horton's Home is Connected smart home paragraph. It appears on most of the builder's other plan pages. It is probably included as a company-wide standard, but ask and get it on the specification rather than assuming. No room dimensions are published either.
Which Horry County Communities Build the Lakeside?
Five Horry County communities are confirmed on D.R. Horton's own pages as offering the Lakeside as of September 2026. Plan availability rotates as phases release and sell out, so confirm before you count on it at a specific community.
| Community | City | Lakeside Starting Price | Baths on Spec Bar | Series | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Evington Place | Longs | $289s | 2 | Express | Now selling |
| Hemingway Landing | Conway | $321,490 | 3 | Express | Now selling |
| Elmhurst Place | Conway | $337,490 | 2 | Not published | Now selling |
| Eden Springs | Longs | $339s | 2 | Confirm with sales office | Now selling |
| Maple Grove | Conway | $346,490 | 2 | Not published | Now selling |
Verified on drhorton.com, September 2026, and subject to change without notice. Community pages round some prices to the nearest thousand; the exact figure appears on each community's own Lakeside plan page. The description text at every community says three full baths, while most spec bars say two — confirm with the sales office. Base prices before lot premium, options and incentives.
Evington Place at the $289,000s is the outlier and it is worth a serious look. It is $32,000 below the next cheapest Lakeside, and Evington Place publishes 146 homesites, a pool, a community garden and sidewalks. The catch is the school run: D.R. Horton publishes Daisy Elementary at 14.4 miles, Loris Middle at 15.4 and Loris High at 14.5 — the longest published school distances of any community in this series. For a household without school-age children that is a $32,000 saving; for one with them it is an hour a day.

Five Bedrooms on One Level
The Lakeside is the only single-storey five-bedroom plan D.R. Horton publishes in Horry County, and that makes it a category of one. Every other five-bedroom the builder sells here is two storeys.
Who that matters to is specific: multi-generational households, buyers who want to age in place without giving up bedrooms, and anyone with mobility considerations who still needs the room count. For those buyers there is no direct alternative in this builder's range, which is worth knowing when you are negotiating — you are not choosing between two plans, you are choosing between this plan and a staircase.
The trade is that 2,016 square feet across five bedrooms means the rooms are modest. For comparison, the two-storey Wren fits five bedrooms into 2,583 square feet and the Elle into 2,713. The Lakeside does the same job in 500 to 700 square feet less, all on one floor. Walk one before you commit, and take a tape measure.
Why the Same Lakeside Ranges $57,000 by Community
The lowest published Lakeside base price in Horry County is in the $289,000s at Evington Place in Longs; the highest is $346,490 at Maple Grove in Conway. Roughly $57,000 between them.
This plan's spread behaves differently from most: no Myrtle Beach community builds it at all. The range runs between Longs and Conway, and the most expensive example is in Conway rather than at the coast. Maple Grove prices most of its plans at the upper end of their countywide ranges, and the Lakeside is no exception.
Inside Conway the plan runs from $321,490 at Hemingway Landing to $346,490 at Maple Grove, about $25,000. Hemingway Landing is also the one community whose spec bar agrees with the description on three bathrooms, which makes it the cleanest place to price this plan.
Incentives move the number again, and are usually conditioned on using the builder's affiliated lender or closing inside a set window. Treat the base price as the start of the conversation.
What to Check Before You Sign on a Lakeside
- Confirm the bathroom count in writing. D.R. Horton's description says three full baths and most of its spec bars say two, on the same pages. This is the single most important question about this plan.
- Get the covered porch dimensions, and confirm it is standard. It is published as part of the plan, but community specifications vary and no measurements exist anywhere.
- Confirm the Home is Connected package is included. The Lakeside's plan page does not carry the smart home paragraph that appears on most other D.R. Horton plans.
- Weigh Evington Place honestly. It is $32,000 cheaper and publishes school distances of 14 to 15 miles. That is the trade in one line.
- Get a dimensioned plan sheet and walk a finished home. Five bedrooms in 2,016 square feet means small rooms, and no dimensions are published.
- Bring your own agent to the first visit. The agent in the model home works for D.R. Horton. In most cases yours has to be present at your first visit for you to be registered, and that registration is what lets them represent you through contract, options and walkthrough. See our guides to making an offer and getting pre-approved.
